We’re Hiring! Bicycle Mechanic & Retail Salesperson

We’re growing our small staff this spring and looking for a Bicycle Mechanic & Retail Salesperson.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Engage customers in a retail setting
  • Willingness to learn and understand basic saddle and bike fit in order to provide customers with exceptional advice when working with them on the sales floor and service recommendations.
  • Assess and repair a wide range of bicycles
  • Assemble stock bicycles from the box
  • Assist lead mechanic in custom bicycle assembly
  • Willingness to engage and promote the services the shop offers i.e. bike touring, saddle library, cargo bikes, e-bikes, mountain biking, commuter lifestyle, custom program
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and new products in the industry
  • Make everyone who walks through the doors feel welcome and respected regardless of cycling knowledge and background
  • Ability to contribute blog content for the shop such as monthly gear reviews
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus
  • Experience fitting and servicing a female customer base a plus
  • Expected to participate in weekly shop rides occasionally

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience as a mechanic in a professional bike shop
  • Knowledge of a willingness to learn more about both emerging and older bicycle technologies
  • Experience with and/or a strong interest in learning more about basic bike fit and the fitting process
  • Consistent attention to detail and a methodical approach to service
  • Maintain a well organized and clean work environment on the sales floor and mechanic area
  • Willingness to accept guidance and feedback related to job duties
  • Effective and open communication skills–we believe this goes a long way in creating a good work environment for all
  • Commitment to creating a welcoming and engaging space for people of all gender identities, races, shapes, sizes and riding styles
  • Engagement in the local bike community and promote cycling by engaging in the lifestyle
  • Ability to perform a mechanic role to a sales role simultaneously
  • Expected to participate in two paid shop-lead bike camping trips

Initial Employment Term: Late February into September, with the possibility of an option for year-round employment

Hours/Week: 30 to 40 hours per week
